Principal’s Welcome
Welcome
Waimate High School is a growing co-educational Year 7 – 13 school situated in the heart of South Canterbury with approximately 310 students. We value our role as an important hub of a supportive, well-connected rural community.
Waimate’s size lends itself to strong relationships where your student will be known and valued as an individual. Our staff will work with them to understand their specific needs, strengths and aspirations, working with them to provide flexible contextual and relevant educational opportunities and challenges as they strive to walk their own pathway to success. Our broad curriculum is complemented by a large range of co-curricular arts, cultural and sporting opportunities that enrich each student ‘as a whole’.
As Principal, I value honesty, respect and ‘grit’. I have high expectations for myself, staff and students. These align well with our school values of respect, responsibility and resilience. I believe that these three values will provide a strong foundation for your student’s growth while at Waimate High School and beyond, as they pursue career opportunities or further studies.
Being a Waimate student means belonging to a safe, caring community that knows them.
